[. . . ] Depending upon the calcium level contained in your tap water as well as upon your weekly ironing time (average time : 2/3 hours), it can be more economical to use distilled water for irons (not for car batteries). In this case, your cartridge should last up to 1 year (depending on the volume of your ironing and on the quantity of steam you ask for). Ventilate the strip for a few seconds and wait for the result approximately 1 minute. 2 or more mauve squares : we advise you to use distilled water for irons. Air must be able to circulate freely underneath the machine to ensure correct ventilation. B If you use a wooden ironing board or table to iron on, remember to protect it from humidity (water condensation) by covering it with an oilcloth for example. We recommend that you iron articles in the order indicated on the iron's thermostat control so that the temperature gradually increases. NOISE To ensure regular steam output performance, your unit is equipped with an pump which is activated each time the steam trigger is pressed. It is louder when: 1) the water tank is empty 2) the unit is used for the first time 3) the anti-calc cartridge has just been changed. WATER RESERVOIR - Never fill the reservoir with hot water - Never add products containing alcohol or essences (perfume, eau de Cologne, lavender essence…) to the water. When the anti-scale cartridge becomes exhausted, the EMC system activates the warming light telling you that the cartridge must be changed. If the anti-scale cartridge is not changed, then soon after, steam generation will be stopped automatically by the EMC system. To produce steam again, either the anti-scale cartridge must be changed or distilled water must be used. After changing the cartridge, the unit must be turned off and on in order to recreate normal operating conditions ANTI-SCALE CARTRIDGE The reference number to order anti-scale cartridges for this irons is 410 057. The anti-scale cartridges are available in blister-pack from your retailer. - 16 - MAINTENANCE Substances contained in fabrics such as cleaning product residues and thread particles may eventually stain the plate of the iron. So if necessary, after ironing rub the plate while it is still warm using a good quality cloth (one which does not leave any traces of fluff) or clean it more thoroughly with an iron-cleaning stick. Do not use scouring powders, alkalines (as used with ovens), abrasives or steel wool. Please make sure that the soleplate is kept clean at all times to maintain the iron's gliding capacity. The natural disposal of these elements may trigger harmful effects on human health and the environment. The natural disposal of these elements may trigger harmful effects on human health and the environment. This straightforward and slightly restrictive task of taking part in the recycling of devices that you wish to dispose of is therefore up to you, the consumer. Once worn out, your electrical device should not be disposed of with your usual household refuse. [. . . ]
