If you use a wooden ironing board or table to iron on, remember to protect it from damp by covering it with an oilcloth for example. We recommend that you iron articles in the order indicated on the iron's thermostat dial so that the temperature gradually increases. INSERTING THE ANTI-SCALE CARTRIDGE • Remove the water reservoir from its housing by pulling it towards you. [. . . ] In this case, your cartridge should last up to 1 year (depending on the amount of your ironing and on the quantity of steam you ask for). Remove, shake it for a few seconds and wait for the resultant colour change (approximately 1 minute). 2 or more mauve squares : we advise you to use distilled water for irons. Never fill the reservoir with hot water Never add products containing alcohol or essences (perfume, eau de Cologne, lavender essence…) to the water. REFILLING WITH WATER WHILST IRONING • You can refill the reservoir during ironing. You do not need to unplug the appliance, and can immediately re-commence ironing. THERMOSTAT ADJUSTMENT • Adjust the thermostat of the iron according to the fabric. € To use steam please ensure that the thermostat dial is set within the 2 and 3 dot settings. TO OPERATE - HEATING PROCESS • Plug the power cable into an earthed socket. € According to model : Turn the variable steam control knob to the High position. If you press the steam trigger before the appliance is ready, an audible signal sounds to indicate that the generator is not ready to supply steam. After changing the cartridge, the unit must be turned off and on again in order to re c reate normal operating conditions (90 seconds wait). ANTI-SCALE CARTRIDGE The reference number to order anti-scale cartridges for this irons is 410 057. The anti-scale cartridges are available in blister-pack from your retailer or from your Helpline on 01825 - 768899. MAINTENANCE Substances contained in fabrics such as cleaning product residues and thread particles may eventually stain the iron soleplate. So if necessary, after ironing rub the plate while it is still warm using a good quality cloth (one which does not leave any traces of fluff) or clean it more thoroughly with an iron-cleaning stick. Do not use scouring powders, alkalines (as used with ovens), abrasives or steel wool.
