Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.
[. . . ] To ensure optimum operation of your sound card, select a slot, where possible, that is not directly next to an existing card because some cards, e. g. graphics cards, may emit signals that could interfere with your sound card. Carefully remove the sound card from its packaging and pick it up by the edges with one hand while your other hand is resting on the metal of the PC case. This will ensure that your body is completely discharged via your computer without affecting the sound card. [. . . ] After this, select the driver "FM801 Wave, Mixer, and MIDI" and click "OK". Restart the computer after installation.
Installation under Windows ME (Millenium)
Insert the accompanying CD-ROM into your drive. After it is started by Windows and the "PCI Multimedia Audio Device" is recognised, select "Enter the location of the driver (expanded)" and click on "Next". Deactivate the check box "Change media (diskette, CDROM. . . )". Activate the check box "Enter the location:", enter the path <CD>:\Drivers\Win9x_ME\English and click on "Next". Alternatively, you can change to the relevant folder by clicking on "Browse". To complete the installation click "Finish".
Installation under Windows 2000
Normally, Windows 2000 asks for the special driver signature as soon as a new driver has been recognised. The signature tells the system that Microsoft has tested the driver for its compatibility. As it will takes a while longer before the drivers have been signatured by all the hardware manufacturers, we recommend setting Windows 2000 to "Ignore" the driver signature, "Control panel" > "System" > "Hardware" -> "Driver signature". After Windows starts, the "Found New Hardware Wizard" will start automatically. Choose "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)" and click "Next". Activate "Enter another source" and click on "Next". Enter the path <CD>:\DRIVERS\WIN2000\English and click "OK". Click on "Next" again and confirm the following dialog with "Yes" in case the digital signature check has not been deactivated as previously described above. In the dialog which follows,

click "Finish". In addition to this, after the driver has been successfully installed under Windows 2000, you should set the Hardware Acceleration for the 512i digital record and playback operators to maximum. To do this, activate the "Sounds and Multimedia" window from ("Start" > "Settings" > "Control panel" > "Sounds and Multimedia") and change to the "Audio" field. Now set the Hardware acceleration to the maximum value, both for "Record" and for "Playback" ("Playback" > "Advanced" > "Performance" > "Hardware acceleration" > "Full" or "Record" > "Advanced" > "Performance" > "Hardware acceleration" > "Full").
