The +5% must be maintained after the drive signifies that its power up sequence has been completed and that the drive is able to accept selection by the Host Initiator. [4] This condition occurs when the Motor Start Option is enabled and the drive has not yet received a Start Motor command. ____________________________________________________________________________________ General Notes from Table 7. 2-1: 1. At powerup, the motor current regulator limits the 12 volt current to a peak value of less than 2. 0 amperes, although instantaneous peaks may exceed this value. Minimum current loading for each supply voltage is not less than 30% of the maximum operating current shown. Where power is provided to multiple drives from a common supply, careful consideration for individual drive power requirements should be noted. Where multiple units are powered on simultaneously, the peak starting current must be available to each device.
Product Manual - Hawk 1 Family SCSI-2 (Volume 1), Rev. D 23 _____________________________________________________________________________________ 7. 2. 1 Conducted noise immunity
Noise is specified as a periodic and random distribution of frequencies covering a band from DC to 10 MHz. Maximum allowed noise values given below are peak to peak measurements and apply at the drive power connector. +5 V = +12 V = 150 mV pp from 0 to 100 kHz and 45 mA pp from 100 kHz to 10 MHz. Power sequencing
7. 2. 2
The drive does not require power sequencing. The drive protects against inadvertent writing during power up and down. Daisychain operation requires that power be maintained on the terminated drive to ensure proper termination of the peripheral I/O cables. 7. 2. 3 12 V - current profile
Figure 7. 2. 2-1 identifies the drive +5 V and +12 V current profile. The current during the various times is as shown: T - Power is applied to the drive. T2 Spindle begins to accelerate under current limiting after performing internal diagnostics. T3 - The spindle is up to speed and the Head-Arm restraint is unlocked. T6 - Calibration is complete and the drive is ready for reading and writing.
