[. . . ] Model 990 7. 1 Channel Preamp/Processor Owner's Manual Version 1. 0 Owner's Manual Warnings Please Read First Outdoor Antenna Grounding­If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the unit, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna-discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. Lightning­For added protection for the unit during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the unit due to lightning and power-line surges. [. . . ] Most speakers sound best when located with the tweeter at ear height when you're seated. Typically, the further away from the walls the speakers are, the better they will sound. Ensure that the speakers are aimed at the listener's ears within your chosen seating position. Place these speakers so that their height is approximately 1 meter (3 feet) higher than that of the listener's ears, if feasible. Place these speakers to the sides of, or slightly behind, the primary listening position. Connect the supplied setup microphone to the Setup Mic input jack on the lower right of the front panel. The setup microphone has a standard 1/4-20 threaded socket on the bottom, so it can be mounted on a photo or video tripod. If you have a tripod handy, you may find it easier to place the mic on the tripod than to hold the mic in place during the setup procedure. Using a tripod will also let you leave the room during setup, so you do not have to listen to the loud test tones. 6. Press SET. If the microphone is connected and the amplifier is on, shut off both the amplifier and the Model 990, then check your connections between the Model 990 and the amplifier, and between the amplifier and the speakers. Once you have confirmed that the connections are good, restart the auto setup procedure.
