WWW settings To change the WWW settings: 1 Open the WWW application and press the Menu button. The WWW settings are: Autoload images: Yes / No -- If set to Yes, the communicator automatically fetches the inline JPEG or GIF images on a WWW page. When set to No, WWW pages are fetched without images and shown much faster. Clear cache on exit: Yes / No -- Most recently fetched WWW pages are kept in the temporary memory of the communicator, the "cache". If set to Yes, the cache, history list and cookie file are automatically emptied after you close the WWW application. When you restart the WWW application, the most recently stored information is fetched from the cache without making a new data call. ©2000 Nokia Mobile Phones. All rights reserved. 86 Accept all cookies: Yes / No -- Determines whether the cookies functionality is enabled. Default access point -- Defines the Internet access point used as a default in the WWW application. Internet access point -- You can select an IAP to be used for this particular WWW page. HTTP proxy-- The hostname of the HTTP proxy server used with the selected IAP. No proxy for -- You may define domains for which the HTTP proxy is not needed. Domain names are separated with commas, for example nokia. com, edu. fi. You may specify the domains as accurately as you wish. Bookmarks The WWW main view shows the Bookmarks list. When you select a bookmark from the list, the name of the Internet access point used for connecting to the bookmark is shown on the top right corner. The date when the bookmark was last fetched is shown beside the name of the bookmark. Below the Bookmarks list is the address field where you can enter the URL address of the WWW page you want to fetch. Tip: To fetch WWW pages stored in the Own texts or Downloaded files folders of the communicator or the memory card, use the prefix "file:///" (note: three slashes) instead of "http://". POP3 (Post Office Protocol, version 3) A common mail protocol that can be used for accessing the Remote mailbox. PPP (Point to Point Protocol) A common networking software protocol which enables any computer with a modem and a phone line to connect directly to the Internet. Protocol A formal set of rules that govern how data is transferred between two devices. Proxy In some networks, the connection between the WWW and the site you want to connect to is blocked by a firewall. A proxy is an intermediary program that enables access through the firewall.
