[. . . ] Make sure the memory card light (next to the card slots) is off and that no cards are inserted. Then insert a card into the correct slot, as shown. CompactFlash or Microdrive (bottom) SD or MMC (middle) MemoryStick (middle) SmartMedia (top) xD (top) The memory card light turns green. Memory card light Note: If the card is not properly formatted, you see a message on the RX600 screen. Any data stored on the card will be erased. Scanning Film or Slides to a Memory Card 107 Removing the Film Holder and Document Mat 1. Set the mat aside so you can reinstall it for scanning reflective documents later. Note: You can't scan film or slides unless the white document mat is removed from the scanner lid. 2. (Remember to replace the film holder when you're done using it. ) 3. Continue with one of these sections: "Loading 35 mm Film Strips in the Film Holder" on page 109 (for film) "Placing 35 mm Slides on the Film Holder" on page 110 (for slides) 108 Printing and Scanning Without a Computer Loading 35 mm Film Strips in the Film Holder 1. Slide your film strip into the holder with the duller (emulsion) side facing up. The top of the images should be facing the outside edge of the film holder and the images should be reversed. 3. Position the film holder so that the 35 mm film strip faces the center of the scanner glass. The positioning posts on the film holder fit in two small holes near the scanner lid, as shown. Place slides in the film holder as shown, with the duller (emulsion) side facing up. Make sure the top of images with portrait orientation face the front of the RX600 Note: If your slide image is in landscape orientation (wider than it is long), place it in the same direction as slide images in portrait orientation (longer than they are wide). This copies the maximum image area, but your preview will be rotated. 3 Close the scanner lid. Scanning and Saving to Your Memory Card 1. Press the OK button. Scanning Film or Slides to a Memory Card 111 4. Use the u, d, l, and r buttons to select the following options: Scan area: Auto cropping (if the edges of the photo are light in color, select Max area) Document type: Text or Graphics Resolution: Normal, Fine, or Photo 5. The photo is scanned to the "epscan" folder on your memory card. Wait for scanning to finish and the memory card light to stop flashing, then remove the card. Caution: Never open the scanner unit while scanning or copying, or you could damage the Stylus Photo RX600. Do not remove the card or turn off the Stylus Photo RX600 while the memory card light is flashing, or you may lose data. Cropping Your Photos You can print a close-up, cropped version of photos from a memory card, or from film or slides. Make sure your memory card is inserted (see page 84) or your film or slides are placed in the film holder on the scanner glass (see page 97), then follow the steps below. Note: Cropping your photos using the Stylus Photo RX600 buttons does not modify the original photo on your memory card. It only changes the way your photo is printed. Selecting Your Photo and Print Settings 1. Press the Memory Card button to print from a memory card, or press the Film Print button to print from film or slides. [. . . ] If service is needed, Epson will, at its option, exchange or repair the product without charge for parts or labor. If Epson authorizes an exchange for the defective unit, Epson will ship a replacement product to you, freight prepaid, so long as you use an address in Canada or the U. S. You are responsible for securely packaging the defective unit and returning it to Epson within five (5) working days of receipt of the replacement. Epson requires a debit or a credit card number to secure the cost of the replacement product in the event that you fail to return the defective one. [. . . ]
