Note: The RX580 remembers this setting even after it has been turned off, so you only need to adjust the dimensions once for a batch of CDs or DVDs. Copying onto a CD/DVD You can copy a printed photo, document, artwork, or CD label directly onto a CD or DVD. Note: The RX580 does not copy music, video, or other CD/DVD contents. 1. Insert your CD or DVD as described on page 46. Copying onto a CD/DVD 51 2. Open the document cover and place your original face-down on the glass, in the upper left corner. If you are copying a CD or DVD, place the original in the center of the glass as shown below: Your image will be automatically cropped and resized to fit on a CD/DVD. Close the document cover gently so that your original doesn't move. 52 Printing on CDs and DVDs 4. If you want to adjust other settings, press the x Print Settings button. See page 16 for more information. Tip: If you want to check the output before copying, select Plain Paper as the Paper Type and load plain paper. 9. Press the x Start button to start copying. Note: If you need to cancel copying, press the y Stop/Clear Settings button. To allow the ink to dry fully, you may need to wait up to 24 hours (depending on the disc) before playing the disc or inserting it in a drive. If ink smears on your printed CD/DVDs, you may need to adjust the ink density. CD/DVDs from different manufacturers absorb ink differently, so you may need to adjust the setting for each brand. Change the Copy Density as needed, then press OK. Copying onto a CD/DVD 53 Returning the Front Tray to the Paper Position 1. Push up the lever to lower the front tray to the paper position. Caution: Do not move the tray lever when the RX580 is operating, and do not touch the tray when pushing down the lever. 2. Pull out the front tray extensions. 54 Printing on CDs and DVDs Printing a CD/DVD Jewel Case Insert You can print a photo (or an index of photos) and have it automatically formatted with lines for cutting and folding to fit a CD or DVD jewel case insert. If you choose to print an index, up to 24 photos will be printed on the folded insert. First, make sure you load letter-size paper, remove the CD/DVD tray, and return the front tray to the paper position as described above. Press d or u to select the following: Media Type: select CD Jacket. Layout: select Jewel Upper to print one photo, or Jewel Index to print multiple photos. 4. If you select more than 24 photos, make sure you have enough sheets of paper loaded. Press the x Start button to start printing. Note: If you need to cancel printing, press the y Stop/Clear Settings button. Printing a CD/DVD Jewel Case Insert 55 Printing From Your Computer This section describes the basic steps for printing a photo or document stored on your Windows or Macintosh computer. Note: For detailed instructions on printing, see the on-screen User's Guide. Before you start, make sure you've installed your printer software and connected the RX580 to your computer as described on the Start Here sheet. Be sure to load the right paper and select the correct paper type setting in the printer driver. (See page 62 for more information. ) Follow the instructions in these sections: "Printing With Windows" (below) "Printing From a Macintosh" on page 59 "Selecting the Correct Paper Type" on page 62 Printing With Windows 1. You see a window like this one: Select EPSON Stylus Photo RX580 Series Click here to open your printer software and change settings 56 Printing From Your Computer 4.
