The Quick Reference Guide contains instructions for using your EPSON Stylus® CX5400 without a computer. To set up your EPSON Stylus CX5400 and install its software, see the Start Here sheet. Please follow these guidelines throughout: Warnings must be followed carefully to avoid bodily injury. [. . . ] Open the scanner lid and slide the transportation lock to the locked position. 3. Remove any paper from the sheet feeder and output tray, then remove the paper support and feeder guard. Tape the ink cartridge holder to the EPSON Stylus CX5400 case. Tape the ink cartridge holder to the case Caution: Be sure to remove the tape after installing the EPSON Stylus CX5400 in its new location. 8. Close the scanner carefully until it clicks back into place, then close the output tray. Repack the EPSON Stylus CX5400 and its attachments in the original box using the protective materials that came with them. After transporting the EPSON Stylus CX5400, remove the tape securing the print head, unlock the transportation lock, and make a test copy. Error message Quality&Paper setting is not acceptable for B&W copy. Solution Press the Stop button, then change the Quality&Paper settings. You can't copy in black and white on photo paper. 61 Error message No XXX ink cartridge ­ ­ ­ > Press the Color copy button to install new ink cartridge. XXX ink out ­ ­ ­ > Press the Color copy button to begin replacing the ink cartridge. Ink cartridge error ­ ­ ­ > Press the Color copy button to begin replacing the ink cartridge. Paper jam or misfeed ­ ­ ­ > Press the Color copy button and clear the paper jam by hand if necessary. Paper out ­ ­ ­ > Load paper in Paper tray and press the Color copy button. Scanner error ­ ­ ­ > See your documentation and call service if necessary. Solution The indicated ink cartridge is not installed. Load paper in the sheet feeder, then press the Color Copy button to continue printing. Carefully close the scanner and press it down until it clicks securely into place. Unlock the transportation lock, if necessary (see Transporting the Stylus CX). If the error message still appears, contact your dealer or EPSON as described in Where To Get Help. Press the On button to turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400, then press the button again to turn it back on. If the message still appears, contact your dealer or EPSON as described in Where To Get Help. Printer error ­ ­ ­ > See your documentation and call service if necessary. Printing a Nozzle Check You can print a nozzle check to determine whether a problem comes from the EPSON Stylus CX5400 or some other source. Press the left Menu button on the control panel until you see Nozzle Check. 62 3. If the check page prints, the problem probably lies in your software settings, the interface cable, or your computer. [. . . ] However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause interference to radio and television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna. Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected. Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help. WARNING The connection of a non-shielded equipment interface cable to this equipment will invalidate the FCC Certification of this device and may cause interference levels which exceed the limits established by the FCC for this equipment.
