E-Tech RTBR05 English manual 11 6. 0 Virtual Server The virtual server allows you to open and forward ports to a computer within your own network. Port forwarding is necessary when using programs that require a 2-way connection (e. g. VPN VPN, Kazaa, Azureus). Before you can enter the requested information you will need to find out what ports exactly should be forwarded. Usually you can find this information in the help function or documentation of the program and on the Internet. If the desired port does not appear in the list you can enter a custom port number in the textbox to the right of the dropdown box. You can open a port range by entering the beginning port in the left textbox and the en port in the right text box. Enter the last 1 to 3 digits of the IP address belonging to the computer the traffic has to go to in the text box near the IP address. Select the protocol by changing the value in the `TCP' dropdown box. Click the `Save' button to save the settings. This page also allows you to easily change existing rules. Note: You can save changes made in this menu by clicking `Save' on the bottom of the screen. E-Tech RTBR05 English manual 12 6. 1 Virtual Server - DMZ The router's DMZ function allows you to configure a so called `Demilitarized Zone'. Enabling the DMZ effectively disables the firewall and sends all traffic to the specified IP address. Follow the instructions below to configure the DMZ: 1. Enter the IP address of the computer all traffic has to go to in the text box near `DMZ host IP address'. Click the `Save' button to save the settings. . 6. 2 Virtual Server - UPnP UPnP allows programs with this feature to automatically open the ports they need to function. Follow the instructions below to enable UPnP: 1. Click the `Save' button to save the settings. E-Tech RTBR05 English manual 13 6. 3 Virtual Sever - UPnP Portmap The `UPnP Portmap' page presents you with an overview of the ports opened by UPnP enabled programs. If you encounter problems after changing settings in this menu you can consult appendix A hint 1 (page 22) to restore the DSL/ cable router to its factory settings. The `Client Filter' menu allows you to block certain types of network traffic and ports for certain IP addresses. Follow the instructions below to configure a client filter: Click the `Add' button and the following screen wil appear. 1. 11. Select the rule you want to add/ modify from the dropdown box near `Filtering Rule'. Enter the last 3 digits of the network device's IP address or enter a range (e. g. Check the checkbox near `Protocols' if you want to block a specific protocol.
