Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] ONYX Graphics color scientists continuously innovate to adjust to changing injket technologies. Unlike other color management engines designed for the press market, the ONYX CMM can: Key Advantages of the ONYX CMM Specifically designed to address latex, solvent and UV ink challenges ONYX Graphics works closely with wide format inkjet printer manufacturers as they develop new inkjet printing technologies in order to ensure that the ONYX CMM works well with these new applications. [. . . ] But when printing without using ICC profiles, it’s much harder to match named PANTONE® spot colors and achieve a smooth, balanced gray. ONYX PosterColor rendering solves these challenges by boosting the color saturation without changing the color hues in the image output or affecting named spot colors. Reds will stay red and blues will stay blue but with more color, while the ICC gray balance stays smooth. This technology gives users the ability to easily produce fully saturated prints on wide format latex, solvent and UV inkjet printers with great color output and accurate automated PANTONE spot color matching. Easiest media profiling With ONYX version X10 RIP software, profiling media from start to finish is much easier and takes minutes instead of hours to complete. The manual decision-making steps during the profiling process in the ONYX CMM are either eliminated or smart suggestions are automatically offered to the user. Setting the best ink values and getting good results without multiple sample prints is easier than ever. The Print Swatch > Read > Next automation in ONYX RIP software saves time and ink. The streamlined process enables even casual users to successfully print onto a broader range of media. For example, profiling a low-ink media on a variable-drop CMYKlclm inkjet printer no longer takes hours of guesswork. Smart 16-bit processing Higher quality output is now possible with the ability to render colors using the extended 16-bit color rendering pipeline in ONYX Version X10 products. With 16-bit processing there are more effective output levels available than with 8-bit processing thus reducing the potential for posterization. Improvements can mostly be seen for gradient blends in EPS/PS/PDF images as well as native 16-bit images. 2 Exclusive automated ink restrictions and separation tool Key to the ability to easily profile media is the new automated Ink Restrictions and Ink Separation tool in ONYX Version X10 products. ONYX patent-pending technology takes the guesswork out of using the right amount of inks, and at the same time ensures smooth transitions from light to dark inks. [. . . ] For example, ICC profile build settings can be automatically selected based upon the ink configuration and other decisions made earlier in the profiling process. Also, the new “Enhanced Color” gamut mapping strategy provides for more colorful results when working with RGB source images. [. . . ]
